Cory Bernard Engineering Portfolio
I am a motivated and driven young engineer, entering the profession with my B. Eng in May 2015. I am looking forward to joining the diverse mechanical engineering industry both to learn, and to contribute a field that tackles challenges from around the world.
My biggest strengths thusfar in my education are CAD modelling, CAD and hand drafting, technical design, team leading, and communication. This e-portfolio is meant to highlight some of the engineering work I have been a part of. Because I am still learning and growing as an engineer, I will update this portfolio as I further my engineering work.

My 2nd year capstone project at BCIT: The Design of an Internal Gearbox for a Downhill Mountain Bike. I was part of a 3 person team that designed and prototyped a bicycle gearbox that was integrated into the bike frame. This design was meant to reduce the number of external shifting components, reduce unsprung weight, and help centralize mass on a downhill race bike. See the projects page for more details.

This is a tecplot output generated by my Laplace function solver. The plate's edges can be subjected to various different temperature distributions, and the final steady-state temperature distribution is calculated by my program.

In 2013 I lead a presentation team to the Western Engineering Competition and the Canadian Engineering Competition. We took part in the innovative design portion of the competition, and presented my team's second year capstone project: The Descent Drive. We placed first in the Western Engineering Competition, but missed the podium at the Canadian Engineering Competition. You can see a video of the presentation on the presentations page.
